We are excited to see as many as a third of the apartments at Woodberry Down are now occupied. We have now been involved in multiple phases of the large scale residential project, which is one of the largest estate regeneration schemes in Europe. Our multidisciplinary team of MEP design experts continue to the development as it becomes an inspiring exemplar of sustainability within the residential sector.
As part of the Low Carbon Transition Plan, DSSR undertook an analysis to provide options for the future introduction of Low Carbon Technologies, accounting for the changing carbon factors associated with different fuel sources. In addition to the dwelling SAP assessment, and non-domestic SBEM calculations required for Approved Document Part L and London Plan compliance, we also undertook CIBSE TM52 Thermal comfort analysis for all Phase 3 flats.

This new facility provides vital diagnostic services previously unavailable locally, including CT, MRI, echocardiograms, and dental X-rays—bringing convenient, timely care closer to home. It also offers a chemotherapy service, significantly reducing the need for patients to travel for treatment.
This remarkable project marks a significant achievement for the NHS and the Skegness community. We’re proud to have contributed to such an impactful development, now providing essential healthcare services that enhance access and improve the well-being of residents in the area.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year, and the DSSR team across the UK knows how to celebrate! 🎄 Over the Christmas break, our offices were filled with festive cheer as our amazing colleagues from all our offices – Glasgow, Harrogate, London, Manchester, and everywhere in between – have been enjoying their Christmas nights out!
From glitzy dinners to cosy pub gatherings, there’s been laughter, festive jumpers, maybe a slightly dodgy Santa hat or two, and of course, plenty of Christmas spirit. It’s been fantastic to see everyone letting their hair down and enjoying some well-deserved fun outside the office.
A huge thank you to everyone at DSSR for another incredible year of hard work and dedication. These celebrations are a perfect reminder of what a fantastic team we have. Cheers to making memories and strengthening those bonds that make DSSR such a great place to work!

Award Win at the Glasgow Institute of Architects Awards 2024
It’s always a great moment to see a project win an award. Last night, the St Andrew’s Drive Affordable Housing scheme won in the Large Residential award category at the Glasgow Institute of Architects Awards 2024.
“St Andrews Drive phases 2 and 3 are the concluding phases of a landscape-led approach to creating a development driven by the principles of NPF4. The project’s initial strategy was to integrate a mixed-tenure social and affordable housing development into the adjacent Pollokshields West conservation area.
“Preserving existing trees was a key objective whilst providing a series of urban villas set in a series of gardens that provide a holistic living environment for its residents. The project seeks to extend the neighbourhood’s sense of place into the new masterplan and knit the community together.”

DSSR Leadership Course in Brathay Cumbria
Over the last year, we have been working with the Brathay Trust charity to host a series of executive leadership training courses at Brathay Hall in Cumbria. By the end of this series of events, all DSSR colleagues, from Business Support to Regional Director, will have gone through the leadership training course.
Each two-day training course is primarily designed to increase awareness of the importance of communication in a leadership role, utilising a mix of classroom and experiential learning, with lots of exciting and challenging activities.
We aim to provide all staff with the relevant opportunities to fulfil their true potential by exposing them to wider learning experiences and providing opportunities to explore interests that can lead to new ideas and new ways of working.
Brathay Trust is proud of its ability to help people to develop the knowledge, skills, and behaviours to adapt to challenges and seize opportunities. They aim to help people achieve this through a blend of indoor and outdoor activities at their Lake District center.
The Brathay training courses are part of the company’s longer-term business strategy and reflect our commitment to growing and developing the skills and capabilities of our colleagues through various forms of training and development.

DSSR Harrogate Complete Endoscopy Unit
We are pleased to share news of the successful handover of the endoscopy refurbishment project for the Warrington and Halton Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
As the M&E consultant, DSSR played a key role in the refurbishment of 4 endoscopy suites and a 5-bed recovery bay. The project also encompassed a new RO plantroom and washing room.
Appointed by Kier Construction, the team maintained a strong emphasis on achieving excellence in quality and sustainable MEP design, setting new standards and benefiting the NHS healthcare infrastructure throughout the project.

DSSR supports ‘Glow Walk’ to raise over £28,950 for St Michael’s Hospice
For more than three decades, Saint Michael’s has provided care and support for families living with terminal illness and bereavement across the Harrogate district. The DSSR Harrogate office is proud to continue to support the excellent work the charity carries out in the local community.
Most recently, a number of colleagues from the Harrogate office completed the Midnight Glow Walk. This event primarily raises vital funds to support the hospice’s work in providing care and support to individuals with terminal illnesses and their families in the local community. It also brings together the community for a shared experience, fostering a sense of togetherness and support for the hospice’s mission.
The DSSR Harrogate Office were delighted to support the event that, to date, has raised an amazing £28,950 for St Michael’s Hospice, without which, local people and their families could be left to face the complex issues and forgotten challenges of terminal illness alone.
We hope to continue to help raise awareness about the hospice, its services, and the importance of end-of-life care as it helps to celebrate cherished moments with loved ones and remember those who are no longer with us.

Cancer Research Shine Night Walk
Led by Carina McKinney, an Associate in the Glasgow office, DSSR is hosting a 10k night time walk fundraiser for Cancer Research UK. She is leading a group of colleagues to raise as much as possible to help beat cancer by taking part in the Shine Night Walk Glasgow 2024.
The Shine Night Walk is an illuminating night-time event where walkers pass through their city’s famous landmarks as part of a 10k walk. Organised by Cancer Research UK, several similar events take place in cities across the UK.
The primary goal is to raise vital funds for life-saving cancer research. The money raised by participants helps fund various research projects aimed at improving cancer prevention, diagnosis, and treatment.
These events also play a crucial role in raising awareness about cancer and the importance of research. They bring together people affected by cancer, their loved ones, and supporters to create a sense of community and solidarity in the fight against the disease.
“Well done to everyone; what a great achievement we all managed to navigate the streets of Glasgow on a Saturday night, and all get back in once piece! I hope everyone who took part was not too stiff the next morning and got a deserved lie-in on Sunday. It looks like we have raised over £2,000 including gift aid!”

Glasgow Office
Cancer Research Shine Night Walk
Led by Carina McKinney, an Associate in the Glasgow office, DSSR is hosting a 10k night time walk fundraiser for Cancer Research UK. She is leading a group of colleagues to raise as much as possible to help beat cancer by taking part in the Shine Night Walk Glasgow 2024.

Great North Run for British Heart Foundation
Senior Site Inspector, Billy Blair, is also leading a fundraiser for the Great North Run 2024.
Billy Blair:
“On Sunday 8th September I will be taking part in the 2024 Great North Run, fulfilling a long held ambition.
“My chosen charity is the British Heart Foundation as my family, like many others, has been directly affected by heart disease.
“The British Heart Foundation funds over half of all non-commercial research into heart and circulatory disease carried out in the U.K. supporting £100m of new projects every year giving adults and children born with heart condition the chance to lead a long and healthy life.
“To help fund this worthwhile charity, I would be grateful for any donation made.”
Harrogate Office
The team in Harrogate has recently supported a charity endeavour led by Phil Proctor who is leading the delivery team which is building a specialised Motor Neurone Disease care centre at Seacroft Hospital, Leeds.
Phil completed a 189-mile cycle challenge, going coast to coast from Morecambe to Scarborough, over the 27th to 28th of June. We are proud to have helped raise £6.8 million to build a specialist MND (Motor Neurone Disease) Care Centre in Leeds, to give people living with MND the best quality of life.
Aiding people living with MND to gain the best experience of life along with the best possible care and support, he has had the privilege of working alongside some of the patients in the design process including Rob, each one are remarkable individuals whose positivity in the face of this terminal disease has been truly inspirational.
Manchester Office
The Manchester office is proud to announce a £1,000 donation to the Alzheimer’s Society, a charity chosen through a staff-driven short-listing process.
This collective decision reflects the team’s commitment to supporting vital causes that resonate with us personally and professionally.
We are honoured to contribute to the Alzheimer’s Society’s mission of improving the lives of those affected by dementia, and we take pride in making a meaningful impact within our
community.
