Heat Network Consultancy Specialists

District heating and cooling networks are seen as one of the key solutions to deliver a low carbon energy economy, particularly in high heat density areas.

To ensure that heat networks are designed, built and operated to a high standard to deliver customer satisfaction a code of practice CP1 on heat networks (district heating) produced by CIBSE and the Association for Decentralised Energy (ADE), in collaboration with DECC, to assist in achieving that aim by raising standards right across the supply chain.

02 / Code of Practice

The Code covers all forms of district heating from communal building heat to large city-wide schemes. It is designed to apply to both new networks and extensions of existing networks.

As CIBSE Certification Heat Networks Consultant, Fiona Williamson has been assessed on her knowledge and understanding of the Code of Practice and uses this experience to support clients through the Code of Practice providing confidence that the guidance in the Code of Practice will be appropriately applied.

03 / Specialist Lead

Fiona Williamson

Regional Director

Fiona has been a CIBSE Certified Heat Networks Consultant since 2015 when the first version of the Heat networks CoP (CP1) was launched.

Aspects of the CoP were immediately implemented by Fiona whilst completing the outline design and performance specification for the heating and cooling district network provided to support the energy centre associated with the £333 million TECA development in Aberdeen.

Fiona is particularly experienced in supporting the preparation of the brief and assessing early stage feasibility to allow a scheme to be fully developed by specialist Heat Network design and build operators, as well as providing design monitoring, on site inspection and commissioning reviews to ensure that the CoP is followed through all stages of design. She is also supported by a team of mechanical and electrical design engineers with experience in Energy Centre and Utilities Infrastructure, that brings together all aspects required to support the implementation of the Heat Networks CoP (CP1).
