Overview of the Watford Riverwell Multi-Storey Car Park project
DSSR is proud to have contributed to an £8.9m affordable housing project, St Andrew’s Drive, in the historic Pollokshields area of Glasgow. A reflection of the project’s quality, St Andrew’s Drive received a Commendation in the Scottish Design Awards 2021 for Affordable Housing.
DSSR produced the MEP performance specification for the flats and provided full design duties for the landlord areas. We also developed the street lighting and external utility services strategy.
The Purpose
The purpose of the St Andrew’s Drive project is to replace unsuitable 1960’s housing stock that could not be adapted to meet current technical standards. The existing structures will be demolished in phases as part of the wider masterplan.
Designed to minimise carbon usage and energy consumption, the project includes electric vehicle recharging points and on-site bicycle parking adjacent to the Shields Road Cycle Way.
The flats themselves have high levels of insulation, triple glazing, and heat recovery systems installed to dramatically reduce energy consumption.
