02 / Overview
Mariner Leisure Centre
DSSR was responsible for designing building services for this refurbishment project which included the creation of Scotland’s first immersive spin studio.
DSSR was pleased to see the completion of a £1.2m project to redevelop the Mariner Leisure Centre in Falkirk. We designed the building services to support the revitalisation of the leisure facility, at the heart of which is now Scotland’s first immersive exercise studio.
The fully redeveloped first floor of the Mariner Leisure Centre now showcases Scotland’s first fully immersive workout environment, complete with a cinema-size screen that measures almost 10 metres in span, two top-of-the-range audio and lighting systems, and the Les Mills TRIP cycling workout.
The gym has been extended to an exceptional degree, now spanning just short of 300m2 in total floor space. It also now offers more than 65 stations, including a Queenax functional training rig, sprint track, free weights, and two Keiser M7i wheelchair-accessible total body trainers.
A newly established group fitness studio boasts an impressive schedule of exercise classes, both in-person and virtual, to further expand the centre’s capabilities.
DSSR is a specialist within the retail and leisure sector when it comes to designing the mechanical, electrical, and public health services that make practicable, relaxing and fully functional spaces for the public to enjoy in comfort.
Our goal is to use our expertise in building services design to create efficient, attractive and environmentally sustainable facilities for the sector. Our skilled engineers are well-versed in the latest industry trends and technologies, and can provide tailored solutions that are specific to each site’s unique requirements.
Alliance Leisure was appointed by Falkirk Community Trust, which operates sport, recreation, arts, heritage and library services on behalf of Falkirk Council, to deliver the project under the UK Leisure Framework.
