The design of the school includes a separate community with a library/sports wing to allow maximum usage of the facility.
The community wing will incorporate a 3G sports pitch, 2G hockey pitches, a sprint track, a long jump pit and a netball court. The school will also incorporate a Combined Heating Power Unit (CHP). DSSR provided full design duties for the school, including the BREEAM assessment. The new Kelso High School is targeting a BREEAM Excellent rating, which is the highest possible rating.
The new Kelso High School is a significant development for the town and is expected to create over 200 new jobs during construction and will provide a boost to the local economy.
The new school is also expected to have a positive impact on the local community. The school will provide a modern and inspiring learning environment for pupils and will help to raise the standards of education in the town. The school will also provide a range of community facilities that will be available to all residents of Kelso.
