Overview of the Glasgow Harbour project
DSSR formed a core part of the design team working on the proposal for a new large-scale 14-storey residential development on Glasgow’s waterfront.
This riverside regeneration project was split into two phases, comprising more than 600 residential units.
DSSR’s scope of works included the full design of heating and ventilation systems, lifts, lighting, fire strategy, data/comms, central pressurised water systems, site-wide security, potential standby power generators, and site services infrastructure.
Additional services included multi-utility planning, thermal modelling of internal temperature, CFD study for underground car parking and a fully integrated access control and monitoring system.
Glasgow Harbour formed part of a citywide strategy to shift the population back into the inner city – in particular areas along the riverfront that were once lively and convivial places but had since become the victim of the declining shipbuilding industry.
The Glasgow Harbour development aimed to maximise density without compromising design quality, offering a wide range of high-specification luxury apartments. The project is intended to act as a catalyst for future development, as Glasgow’s city centre expands westwards along the river.
