Overview of the Frimley Park Hospital DIPU Project
Built using Modern Methods of Construction (MMC), the project was delivered faster, greener, and more efficiently, integrating advanced imaging technology and improved inpatient facilities.
A Cutting-Edge Diagnostic & Imaging Centre
DSSR was responsible for the full M&E design, ensuring the facility met the highest standards of efficiency and performance. The centre houses three CT scanners, two MRI scanners, and two gamma cameras, requiring sophisticated electrical and mechanical systems to support their operation.
In addition, DSSR designed the M&E infrastructure for 74 inpatient beds, a mix of single rooms and four-bed bays, all connected to the main hospital building for seamless service delivery. Our work also extended to a dedicated breast care diagnostic unit, providing a streamlined ‘one-stop’ service for patients.
Sustainability & MMC Benefits
The project, delivered in collaboration with MTX Contracts Ltd, placed a strong emphasis on sustainability. MMC principles were used to reduce waste by up to 60% through off-site modular construction, while also accelerating the build schedule by up to 50% compared to traditional methods.
DSSR’s energy-efficient M&E solutions complemented this approach, integrating low-energy lighting, high-efficiency ventilation, and smart building management systems to minimise operational costs and environmental impact. By adopting these sustainable and innovative techniques, the new imaging centre not only improves patient care but also sets a benchmark for future healthcare developments.
