Overview of the Diageo Office project
DSSR provided full design buildings services consultancy associated with the Cat B fit out of the new HQ office building for the global beverage firm Diageo. The project included the provision of multifunctional spaces for collaborative working, product development, sales and client entertainment.
Spaces include a fully operational bar and restaurant in addition to flexible office accommodation and meeting spaces. DSSR worked closely with Form Design Consultants in order to complement their desired architectural scheme with suitable building services design.
To reduce operating costs by 20%, the fit out has been developed to utilise current Smart Building techniques and the Internet of Thing (IoT). The spaces have been designed to allow staff to work in different environments, with areas such as the bar and restaurant being provided with the full Wi-Fi coverage and local power provision allowing these spaces to be fully utilised as work space.
Sustainability and low-energy solutions were key drivers for Diageo. An Integrated Workplace Management System (IWPM) was implemented alongside new LED lighting. The MEP systems are integrated with the IWPM system, with the facility to control air conditioning by users via an application on their smart devices, if required.
An information room scheduling system was established with information from this system used to ensure room conditions are maintained when the spaces are being utilised and either switched off or reduced in output during periods of inactivity. This was clearly innovative at the time of installation and helped Diageo towards its carbon reduction commitments and reduced operating costs.
