Our role in the project
Prompted by a partial office relocation, DSSR provided a comprehensive ESG review of the Cala Home offices at Cairnlee House. Following this process, we assisted in a full office refurbishment.
We’re excited to finally showcase some photos from the recently completed refurbishment of The Culzean, a prime office building right in the heart of Glasgow. The historic listed building now boasts a range of modern and dynamic workspace suites across multiple levels, served by comprehensive mechanical, electrical, and public health services.
Making a great first impression is key, and the newly refurbished reception is sure to impress with its feature lighting, exposed building services, and striking bespoke interior design. Biodiversity is a key design element for any new office space, and the Culzean is no different. It supports the greenery in the reception area with specialist purple grow lights that help plants grow by optimising photosynthesis.
The Culzean offers tenants a range of comfortable, efficient, open-plan workspaces that provide the flexibility to suit a variety of business needs. Level 5 also boasts brand-new changing and shower facilities, encouraging active commutes. The latest VRF air conditioning, Air Source Heat Pump water heating, and LED lighting ensure a comfortable and environmentally friendly workspace.
A key part of our role was designing flexible building services solutions to support cellular office suites within each level. This flexible services arrangement enables Culzean to accommodate a range of clients in separate suites across each office.
The challenge when multiple tenants occupy a building is how to cater for their individual needs and preferences—which can often vary significantly. It is our role to coordinate MEP systems to meet these diverse requirements while ensuring overall building efficiency.
Addressing the challenges associated with providing flexible office spaces requires a collaborative approach between architects, engineers, and building managers. With close partnership working through the design process, we have created efficient, flexible, and bespoke cellular office spaces throughout the Culzean.
