Overview of the Co-operative Group, De-kit Facility project
DSSR provided performance duties including establishing concept design, utility applications and planning stage building performance modelling to meet the energy legislative requirements for the COOP new Build De-Kit facility at Newhouse.
In 2022, construction was finished for a new de-kit facility for the Co-operative Group.
For this project, we worked in close liaison with COOP to fully establish their fit-out requirements, allowing us to effectively provide performance duties, establish concept design, and manage utility applications. To meet the legislative requirements for the facility, we also provided planning stage building performance modelling.
Our duties also included the relocation/diversion of on-site utilities–including relocation of substation–and consultation with SPEN in relation to on-site overhead pylons.
DSSR also provided BREEAM Assessor role, assisting the site in its target of a ‘Very Good’ EPC B rating. We also completed the BREEAM UK New Construction 2018 Assessment, achieving Very Good certification, and provided BREEAM Advisory Professional support to the developer and contractor through the design and construction stage.
The construction of the new 47,500 sq ft De-Kit facility, which will expand Co-op Newhouse District Centre, was completed by Luddon Construction Limited.
The project delivery team included Luddon Construction Limited, Avison Young, UMC Architects, Goodson Associates, CBA QS Ltd, and Emtec Group.
