Our role in the project
Prompted by a partial office relocation, DSSR provided a comprehensive ESG review of the Cala Home offices at Cairnlee House. Following this process, we assisted in a full office refurbishment.
DSSR was part of the team that helped Cala Home East review and refurbish its offices in Falkirk at Cairnlee House.
After completing an Environmental Social Governance (ESG) review of Cairnlee House, Cala decided to remain in the building and complete a full refurbishment.
Cala Homes West, which relocated to new premises in Glasgow, previously occupied the first floor of the building; this project saw Cala Homes East expand its operations into the new space.
DSSR’s appointment was extended to provide MEP Building Services design to support the new office refurbishment. The brief was to provide a sustainable work environment to encourage employees to return to the office.
The fit-out of Cairnlee House includes a new entrance reception area, a suite of offices and meeting rooms, and staff break-out spaces with new amenities such as a studio gym space, showers, a changing and meditation room, an amphitheatre, and a garden room.
Reducing waste and the embodied carbon impact of the project was a core consideration. To support this project goal and reduce unnecessary spending, the MEP design reused existing equipment and services distribution where it was in good working order, replacing only inefficient equipment at the ‘end of life’ stage.
