Overview of the Aberdeen International Business Park project
BCO Awards 2016 “Regional Winner Corporate Workplace Scotland”. Aberdeen International Business Park (AIBP) is a large scale multi-phase mixed use development located in close proximity to Aberdeen airport.
Phase 1 of the development comprises three four-storey buildings with a combined area of approximately 350,000 sq.ft. The buildings are designed to provide bespoke office accommodation with central data facilities, café, kitchen, servery, and restaurant spaces, as well as auditoria and a large-scale sports hub. The offices were designed to meet the BREEAM 2011 Excellent standard, which means that they meet very high environmental and sustainability standards, including energy efficiency, materials used, and waste management. In addition, the offices were designed to achieve a 25% reduction in CO2 emissions beyond current regulations.
The Phase 2 plan includes a further 200,000 sq.ft of office accommodation and a 150,000 sq.ft hotel complex, while Phase 3 of the development is intended for additional offices. DSSR played a key role in the design of the mechanical, electrical, and public health engineering services for the entire development. The detailed design for Phase 1 was successfully completed in February 2015, and Aker Solutions is now in full occupation.
To deliver the HVAC and energy solution, DSSR combined Hybrid VRF with Fresh Air AHUs and PV technologies. The use of these technologies ensures that the energy consumption of the building is minimised, which not only saves costs but also reduces the environmental impact of the development. Overall, the development is a modern, sustainable, and efficient workspace that provides essential facilities for businesses while minimising its impact on the environment.
