02 / Overview

Overview of the Aggreko project

We have been working with Aggreko since 2009, from the design and construction of their state-of-the-art generator assembly facility through various upgrades and extensions – the latest of which is an extensive roof-mounted solar PV array.

We have a long-standing relationship with Aggreko. Since our first commission in 2012, where we provided design duties for the original facility installation, we have developed a successful partnership with Aggreko, assisting them with many remodelling projects.

For the initial construction, DSSR provided a full mechanical and electrical design service including modelling analysis for generator test bay environmental control and management of major P.U. diversion enabling works. We were also responsible for highly bespoke services, including specific acoustic and airflow calculations.

Aggreko is the leading company in the provision of temporary power and temperature control. The 170,000 sq ft facility (including 30,000 sq ft of offices) greatly increased the company’s production capacity, matching its global market expansion.

We also worked directly with Aggreko’s testing and engineering teams allowing us to fully understand the manufacturing and testing processes that needed to be undertaken. This allowed us to develop a brief and ultimately a design that fully integrated Aggreko’s manufacturing requirements into the building design.

Providing all of Aggreko’s manufacturing and testing processes, including those that previously could only be completed externally, within the new Facility has allowed Aggreko to improve productivity whilst also enhancing the working environment for their personnel.

Further commissions include the design of the test bay area, relocation of 25 kV and 33 kV overhead lines and currently carrying out exportation capacity from 7 MVA to 10 MVA.

Most recently, we helped deliver the completion of a massive solar panel installation project. The project saw the installation of 1,600 PV panels across the roof of the industrial site outside Glasgow.
