DSSR are part of the multi-disciplinary team which will deliver the proposed new Conference Centre at Bucksburn, next to the Rowett Institute, and redevelop the Bridge of Don site which will be vacated once the existing AECC closes.

DSSR role is to develop the site masterplan with respect to Utilities Infrastructure and site-wide services. This involves Dynamic Thermal Simulation of all buildings on the site to predict diversified energy loads, allowing the Central Energy Centre footprint and plant sizes to be tailored to match anticipated loads.

The new Conference Centre will form part of the wider development of the Rowett North Masterplan, just south of Aberdeen International Airport.  Phase 1 of the AECC, located in close proximity to Aberdeen Airport, comprises approximately 350,000 sq.ft of bespoke developed accommodation split across three, 4 storey offices.  Levels 1, 2 & 3 of each of the three buildings provide exclusive office type accommodation combining both open plan and cellular space.  Split across the ground floor of the three buildings, including link structures, are Reception with atrium, conferencing / auditoria, social space & Catering, Nursery facilities, Fitness complex comprising sports hall, gymnasia & squash courts.

The development as a whole has achieved BREEAM Excellent demonstrating a positive responsibility to energy consumption.

The completed project was judged by the BCO and was a recipient of the 2016 “Corporate Workplace” winners’ award in Scotland.  The Project is now on the shortlist for the National Awards. The project also received the “Commercial Category” winners award from the RICS.
