We have an exciting opportunity in our Glasgow Office to become part of our growing Sustainability & Building Performance Team.  This team has been developed as a centre of excellence for all aspects of sustainability advice and Building Performance modelling supporting our whole business across the UK, and as part of this development we are looking to expand our current team. The successful candidate will be provided with an opportunity to play and active role in the development of the Team working on projects across all sectors and over the whole of the UK.

Key responsibilities of the role may include the following, however there is an opportunity to tailor the role to the candidate’s experience and skills:

  • Understand and apply UK sustainability related legislation to project solutions e.g. England, Wales and Scottish Compliance, CRC’s, RHI’s, Local Planning Policy, proposals etc.
  • Undertake dynamic thermal modelling (IESVE) analyses including: Compliance Assessments, Comfort Analysis (TM52/59), Daylighting analysis and natural ventilation studies.
  • Undertake studies relating to BREEAM Credits including: thermal comfort, low and zero carbon technologies and reduction of emissions.
  • Prepare Energy & Sustainability Statements for developments to complement planning submissions. This will include coordination and managing energy / sustainability contributions from many different design team stakeholders.
  • Prepare high quality reports that clearly and concisely communicate the issues involved, analysis undertaken, and the conclusions.

 

We are looking for candidates who have:

  • 3 – 6 years experience in Building Performance Modelling and be proficient in the use of relevant industry building performance software including the IESVE.
  • strong experience as a sustainability or energy consultant or in a related role
  • an understanding of BREEAM and other environmental assessment methodologies (Experience completing assessment will be beneficial to this role but are not essential)
  • an understanding of Domestic Energy Assessments using SAP (Experience completing assessment will be beneficial to this role but are not essential)
  • an Engineering background and an understanding of Building Services
  • skills in assessing the feasibility of renewable and low carbon energy solutions.
  • skills to be able to effectively communicate to clients both inside and outside the business.
  • excellent written and numerical skills
  • a positive and flexible attitude are essential requirements of the role.

 

Qualifications

  • Degree in engineering/environmental or sustainability related subject
  • CIBSE Low Carbon Consultant or, preferably, a CIBSE Low Carbon Energy Assessor.
